discogs_player v0.2.3
Summary
Release type: stable
Tag: v0.2.3
Date: 2026-06-28
Scope: first-run / supportability polish (in-app "Report a problem", clearer web setup errors, quieter snap first launch) plus internal quality hardening (CI lint/type/test gates, shared coercion utilities, webapp unit tests).
Who This Is For
Discogs Spinner is for record collectors who already use Discogs and want a faster daily utility than browser tabs. Bring a Discogs personal access token, sync your collection once, then browse your shelf, spin a random pick, inspect market value, and review wantlist context from one local app.
Highlights
Adds an in-app "Report a problem" path — a header-menu entry in the GTK desktop app and a persistent footer link in the web/desktop app — so reporting an issue no longer requires hunting for the repository.
Makes web setup errors clearer by distinguishing token/auth failures from network failures, matching the desktop setup wizard's wording.
Quiets repeated GLib schema warnings on first snap launch by precompiling the bundled GSettings schemas.
Hardens the launcher: a broken or partial PyGObject install now shows the install-dependencies guidance instead of a raw traceback.
Internal quality: CI now enforces lint, type checking, the full Python test suite, and webapp lint/type/tests on every change; duplicated coercion helpers were consolidated into shared modules; and the webapp gained its first unit-test suite (vitest).

Validation Evidence
Installer workflow: published the expected cross-platform assets via Installer Build.
Release asset verification: CHECKSUMS-INSTALLERS.txt and INSTALLER-MANIFEST.txt published with the release assets.
Linux metadata validation: pass (venv/bin/python scripts/validate_linux_packaging_metadata.py).
CI quality gates: lint (ruff + mypy), full Python test suite, and webapp lint/type/tests all green on the release commit.
Known Limitations
macOS builds are currently unsigned and may require a one-time Gatekeeper quarantine removal.
Windows builds may show SmartScreen warnings until signing is added.
Optional playback providers remain optional; Discogs collection, value, wantlist, and discovery workflows work without Spotify configured.
Linux users should start with the Snap Store listing. The GTK .deb, Tauri .deb, and AppImage remain alternate direct-download paths.
Upgrade / Migration Notes
Breaking changes: none.
Existing local data and config paths are unchanged.
Existing cached cover art and synced collection data remain compatible.
