OBD2 FaultFinder turns an OBD2 adapter into a diagnostic tool on your own computer. Plug the adapter into the car's OBD2 port, connect over USB, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and the program reads what the engine computer reports. The ordinary $15 kind is fine. What it does: - Trouble codes, stored, pending and permanent, with the standard name of each in plain language, and the freeze frame the car saved when the code was set. - Around thirty live readings on a dashboard of gauges you can rearrange, with graphs, a fuel-mixture map, and trip figures. - Records a drive to a file and plays it back through the same gauges. - Compares two recorded drives side by side, so a repair can be shown to have changed something rather than argued about. - A full scan: the car's own on-board self-test results, the readiness monitors, per-cylinder misfire counters, and the VIN. - Every screen in English and Spanish, switched with one button. It reports what the vehicle says. It does not perform repairs and does not name causes. Nothing it reads from the car leaves the computer. Free to install and use for seven days with every feature open; after that the code reader, the live gauges and the graphs keep working for free, and a one-time key unlocks recording, replay, the analysis and the printed report.
