A lightweight desktop AI client and screen-level agent: chat, tools, translation, OCR, and visual Q&A in one small app.
Kivio is a compact desktop AI client with a built-in agent runtime. It stays in the tray or menu bar, opens when you need it, and keeps a much smaller footprint than a browser-based AI workspace.
- Kivio Agent — chat, projects, assistants, memory, file/image attachments, MCP, Skills, and native tools (file ops, shell, web fetch/search, Pyodide run_python).
- Lens — screenshot-based visual Q&A, OCR, formula extraction, text polishing, and optional web-aware answers.
- Fast translation — typed text, selected text, windows, and arbitrary screen regions.
- Bring your own models — OpenAI-compatible providers and Anthropic Messages, with per-feature model routing and multi-key failover.
- Document-ready — PDF / Word / Excel workflows run on a bundled offline Pyodide sandbox, no first-run CDN download required.
- Private by default — no telemetry; API keys and conversation data stay on your machine.
Working row — reasoning, tools, and mid-turn commentary collapse into one Codex-style Working / Worked row; the final answer stays outside.
Replace translation — each paragraph is covered by one plate before the translation is flowed in, so ghost text is gone and the repair model is not needed.
Web search — official Kimi search joins the provider list.
Chat window — an opt-in setting hides on close instead of destroying, so reopen skips a cold start.
Sidebar — drag to resize; conversation rows show last-active age (e.g. 2m / 13h).
Assistants — six built-in personas (product, legal, finance, teaching, review, career) and easier-to-scan cards.
External CLIs — Windows falls back to WSL when a local CLI is missing; one conversation stays on one native session; ACP agents such as Kimi get terminal methods; the official dsh key is written where the CLI actually reads it.
